    Hey Yvette,

    That's a great question. The ability to quickly pivot gateways is absolutely a value of using Spreedly. We do not have an auto-retry mechanism in place and do not intend to create one, simply because we always want you, the customer and controller of your data, to dictate the actions taken on payment methods. The way we see customers accomplish this is by introducing logic on their end that, in the event of a failure at one gateway, will replace the <gateway_token> in the request. At the most basic level, this is all you need to do for us to start hitting that alternative gateway. A supplementary consideration would be any gateway-specific-fields you are using, if any.
