A quick intro to Shawn

Hello, Spreedly Community!

First, it's great to be here as Spreedly's first Sales Engineer. Spreedly is my second start-up and also only my second "real-job" (if you don't count 12 years in the U.S. Navy). I'm one of the local Durham folks (pronounced "DURM" for anyone who is not from here); I like working in DURM because they put the city name on artisanal bread:

Besides working in such a great city, I'm looking forward to the experience of working with new and exciting technologies, like this one:

Hah! Just kidding. :) Spreedly clearly has some brilliant engineers and I'm thrilled to be learning from these guys! Though there's a lot to learn, this Community Forum is one of the places that I'm looking forward to frequenting. I know that our customers have a lot of experience and knowledge to teach me with!

So, by way of intro, just a few more points of interest about myself...

I love playing disc golf with my sons and our neighbors! This throw was remarkably close to the basket and I definitely nailed the birdie after pulling it out of the ground...

I think that the idea of "organic Doritos" is one of the most ironic products I've ever seen in my life... Seriously? (I didn't buy these, btw)

I saw this painting at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC (everyone should go sometime!) while on an anniversary date with my wife... It reminded of our dentist and why I hate going to the dentist soooooo much... Not much has changed in the last 500 years or so ("The Dentist" by Jan Miense Molenaer, 1629):

This is the place I most like to go in the mornings for a walk before the temperature gets above 90 degrees...

My wife took this picture of me after the one, half-way decent snowfall in North Carolina this last winter. I like how the snow flakes stick to my beard here. After I got out of the Navy, I pledged to never, ever shave again. So far, so good.
