gateways not visible on dashboard

Over the course of integration and testing, I have created a number of test gateways. These are fully accessible via the api. However, they do not appear in the dashboard gateway list. Why is this?

  This question was answered via email back in January, however, I wanted to make sure we documented the answer here as well just in case anyone else has the same question.
