Getting Vantiv tokens
For a customer of ours, we want to initiate transactions on their behalf through their Vantiv gateway, and get the Vantiv tokenized card info to initiate future transactions directly (not through us). We would like to do this using our existing integration with Spreedly, however in this setup the Vantiv tokens will be sent to Spreedly instead of us. So we need to find a way to get them to our customer.
We have talked to Vantiv and they mentioned that there are several customers that use Spreedly, and that you could pass on the Vantiv token to the party that initiated the transaction via Spreedly (us, in this case). Could we also set this up, and how would this work?

It sounds like you have customer details coming into Spreedly, but you have a case where you need to send that card data to be tokenized at the gateway level as well so that your customer can initiate charges straight from their Vantiv account. You can accomplish this with Spreedly by using Third Party Vaulting:

By following the steps above, we'll return a Vantiv token for you. You can take that token and give it to the third party, who can then transfer it into their Vantiv setup and transact against it. This process does not fall under PCI scope.

Yes, the vaulting service would be necessary if you'd like to use this process. Third Party Vaulting will store payment methods in the Spreedly Vault as Third Party Tokens. Once you confirm the data exists in Vantiv, you can delete the Third Party Tokens from your Spreedly vault, if you wish. Routinely removing payment methods in Spreedly that are duplicated in Vantiv can help manage the cost of your subscription.Best,
